A 270-acre (110 ha) plant situated in Pleasanton, California, is the Alameda County Fairgrounds. It houses the annual Alameda County Fair, which has been taking place since 1912, as well as countless trade shows and community activities. The Pleasanton Fairgrounds Racetrack was constructed on its premises in 1858, making it America's earliest one-mile (1.6 km) horse racing track. There is an amphitheater with 3,000 seats, as well as a9-hole golf course within the infield of the track.

Since 1959, the Alameda County Central Railroad Society has retained a model train display at the fairgrounds, which has risen in O scale and HO scale to two 15-foot by 100-foot layouts.

At the fairgrounds, Building J, also known as the Amador Pavilion, is a multifunctional arena and animal event facility. It was shortly back to the National Indoor Football League's Tri-Valley Ranchers.

The Heathcote-MacKenzie House, also recognized as The Heritage House, was constructed around 1905 on the fairground site to accommodate rich Canadian harness riders who wintered in Pleasanton with their horses. It is now on the Historic Places National Register.

In addition to the annual fair, regular activities at the fairgrounds include:

  • Numerous automobile shows, done anually, managed by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association

  • The Pirates Of Emerson Haunted House

  • The Scottish Highland Gathering and Games, dated all the way back to the 1860s and is known for being the largest two-day Scottish gathering in North America, celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2015.

The area is very clean and well kept. There are plenty of chairs located all around the fair so that you can have a seat and enjoy some food and music. The concerts have very large screens that compliment the performances. There is a different stages at the event so that there are multiple performances playing at once. There is a lot to choose between the music and the wide variety of food vendors. The Alameda County Fairgrounds is truly beautiful and hosts spectacular events.
